Namibia’s premier holiday resort on the west coast
resembles a small village nestling between the desert and
the sea.
The promenades, palm trees, beautiful gardens remind of a
European seaside resort. Magnificent buildings dating back to the
turn of the century, give the city its charm. The aquarium, the
museum and the open wood market in the city are worth a visit. A
few kilometers further away the harbour town Walvis Bay with its
lagoon, the seal colony at Cape Cross and the Welwitschia Mirabillis
– an endemic ancient plant – in the Namib Desert are some of the
tourist attractions in the area. For the active holidaymaker,
quadbikes, sandboarding, boat rides, fishing trips, kayaking
and even parachuting are some of the offered highlights.
Plenty of hotels, pensions, excellent restaurants and shops
cater for the comfort of the visitor.
