This Safari leads to the highlights of Namibia. We show you the oldest
desert on earth, the Namib; the great Etosha National Park with game in
abundance; the rough terrain of the Damaraland with the rockengravings
at Twyfelfontein and Namibia's coastal resort, Swakopmund. Namibia also
means colourful and friendly people! A visit to a native Himba village
at a guestfarm is offered as an optional excursion.
This Safari is the modern way of traveling: small groups, getting acquainted
with many aspects of the country. Don't rush, take your time and enjoy
yourself - also included: a night at a spa, where you can spoil yourself
with wellness treatments.
For the very active and restless visitor, we offer additional optional
tours, which you can book and join individually depending on your interests.
Monday: Windhoek. Depart at around 09:00 from Windhoek via the
scenic and steep Spreetshoogte Pass to the beautifully set Namib Naukluft
Lodge. A light lunch will be served. During the afternoon you have time
to relax at the swimming pool and/or join a walking trail in the mountains.
(Optional and if available: A flight in a light aircraft over the dunes
at Sossusvlei.)
Overnight with full board at Namib Naukluft Lodge. 250km
Tuesday: Namib Naukluft Lodge. An early morning rise will be
rewarded by the sight of the spectacular dunes at Sossusvlei on your
excursion. Make the effort and climb one of the dunes and you may be
overwhelmed by the sight of the dynamic and living desert. A full breakfast
will be served under one of the camelthorn trees at Sossusvlei. Visit the
Sesriem Canyon before returning to the Lodge for lunch. During the late
afternoon a sundowner drive to the natural marble mountains on the
25,000 ha private nature reserve is offered. Overnight with full
board at Namib Naukluft Lodge. 240km
Wednesday: Namib Naukluft Lodge. En route to Swakopmund we will
drive through the Namib Desert. Enjoy the Kuiseb Canyon, the drive along
the Swakop riverbed and stops at the moonlandscape and at the Welwitschia
Mirabelis, an ancient plant endemic to the Namib Desert. The rest of the
afternoon is at leisure and you can explore the little coastal resort on
your own. Overnight on a bed and breakfast basis at the Hansa Hotel or
the Swakopmund Hotel. 250km
Thursday: Swakopmund. We will drive to Walvis Bay this morning
and you may want to join one of the optional tours (Kayaking in the
Walvis Bay lagoon, Quadbiking on the dunes en route to Walvis Bay, a
boattrip from the Walvis Bay yacht harbour, etc.) or you might enjoy
walking along the lagoon and view the prolific birdlife with a huge
population of flamingoes.
Return to Swakopmund in the afternoon and enjoy the rest of the day
at leisure. (Optional: A sundowner flight along the coastline in a
small aircraft) Overnight on a bed and breakfast basis at the Hansa
Hotel or the Swakopmund Hotel & Entertainment Centre. 70km
The Hansa Hotel – nestling
in the very center of the charming
little town of Swakopmund, wrapped in the shape of a timelessly
classical building dating from 1905, an integral part of
Swakopmund’s architectural heritage.
There are 55 superb twin/family rooms all with en-suite facilities,
under carpet heating, TV, secure parking and private bar with
open fire place.
Friday: Swakopmund. Today we drive along the coastline via
Henties Bay and Uis to the vast regions of the Damaraland. We shall
visit the famous rock-engravings at Twyfelfontein and arrive at the
Lodge during the course of the afternoon. The rest of the day is at
leisure.
Overnight on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis at Twyfelfontein
Lodge. 350km
Saturday: Huab Lodge. We carry on towards Kamanjab to the
beautifully situated Huab Lodge to take part in some of the activities
offered in this magnificent area, where desert elephants are common
visitors. A nature drive and birdwatching at Huab Lodge are unforgettable
highlights. Your hosts, Suzi and Jan van der Reep are some of the most
knowledgable and well-known conservationists in Namibia and their love
for nature will make your stay an unforgettable one. (Optional wellness
treatments are available upon request.)
Overnight on a full board basis at Huab Lodge. 180 km
Sunday: Huab Lodge. After breakfast we depart to one of the
lodges near the western side of the Etosha National Park, Otjovasandu.
En route you may wish to do an optional side-trip (extra)
visiting a native Himba tribe on a farm in the area.) During
the afternoon you may want to join an optional game-drive. The rare Mountain
Zebra and Eland antelopes are found in the area. Overnight on a dinner,bed
and breakfast basis at Hobatere Lodge or Kavita Lion Lodge. 120 km
Monday: Etosha Outskirt. Today we drive to the Etosha National
Park visiting the 'Haunted Forest', en route before arriving at Okaukuejo
Restcamp for a glimpse of the waterhole nearby.
Dinner, bed and breakfast at one of the Etosha Restcamps or a privately
owned Lodge just outside the Park. 260 km
Tuesday: Etosha National Park. A whole day in this great National
Park lies ahead of us and we shall stop at various waterholes en route to
view game. This Park is well-known for its huge herds of zebra and antelope.
With a bit of luck we should be able to spot elephant, lion and/or other
predators. We leave the Park at the eastern side and overnight at Mokuti
Lodge just outside the Van Lindequist gate. Dinner, bed and breakfast at
Mokuti Lodge. 200 km
Wednesday: Etosha Mokuti Lodge. We enter once more into the
Etosha National Park and explore the 'Fisherman's Pan' as well as the
north-eastern part at Andoni. We visit the historic Fort Namutoni and
do some more gameviewing at the water holes, before exiting the park
again before sunset to arrive back at Mokuti Lodge.
Overnight, dinner, bed and breakfast at Mokuti Lodge. 150 km
Thursday: Mokuti Lodge. After breakfast we depart to Tsumeb an old
mining town. We visit the ethnological museum here and continue via
Otjiwarongo to Okahandja, where we stop at the woodcrafters market.
You can do some shopping here before we arrive in Windhoek during
the later afternoon. End of Safari.

Included: Safari in a small group with a qualified English
and/or German speaking tour-guide. Accommodation and meals as listed above:
Breakfast in each establishment, 3x lunch and
8x dinner. Activities as mentioned in the itinerary are
included. All optional tours are to clients own account. Park-entrance-fees
and porterage, as well as medical emergency evacuation insurance (to the
nearest hospital) is also included. Still and sparkling water on board the
bus free of charge.
Excluded: Meals not listed above have to be paid by the
client directly (e.g. 8x lunch and 2x dinner in Swakopmund). All optional
tours and trips are to be paid in advance or to the tour guide, who will
gladly assist with the necessary reservations. Tips, personal insurances
