Classic Safari: Etosha & Caprivi
This safari is a one-way tour. Starting in Windhoek and ending at Katima Mulilo, from where you can book an individual itinerary to continue your journey. The highlight of this safari is game-viewing, cultural experience, as well as boat rides on the Northern rivers, birding and walking trails.
Day 1: 08:30 Departure from Windhoek. Our first stop is Okonjima Ranch, Home of the Africat Foundation. Afternoon excursion of endangered wildlife species. Overnight on a dinner bed and breakfast basis at Okonjima.
Day 2: We visit the carnivore research centre and continue to the Etosha National Park. Enjoy a short game-drive. Overnight with dinner, bed at breakfast either inside or just outside the Etosha National Park.
Day 3: We drive through this unique game park along the vast saltpan with stops on route at various waterholes for game-viewing. Overnight just outside the Van Lindequist Gate (Eastern Gate), Mokuti Lodge with dinner, bed and breakfast.
Day 4: We have a full day of game-viewing and will explore the Fischer’s Pan and the Andoni Plains. Overnight with dinner, bed and breakfast at Mokuti Lodge.
Day 5: After breakfast we continue our journey. Visit the Ju/’Huansi Living Museum and get some insight into the living of the San tribes. Arrival in Rundu during the course of the afternoon. Enjoy a sunset cruise on the Okavango River. Overnight with dinner, bed and breakfast at Hakusembe River Lodge on dinner, bed and breakfast.
Day 6: Drive along the Okavango River. Visit the Popa Falls. Overnight with dinner bed and breakfast at Divava Lodge.
Day 7: Join a boat ride on the Okavango River with a prolific birdlife and crocodiles on the side. During the afternoon we will do a game drive into the Mahangu Core Area and stop at a huge Baobab Tree. Overnight with dinner, bed and breakfast at Divava Lodge.
Day 8: We drive through the Bwabwata National Park to the Kwando River and onward to the Nkasa Rupara National Park. Overnight with dinner, bed and breakfast at Nkasa Lupala Lodge.
Day 9: We enjoy a 5 hour excursion, driving and boat cruise on the Linyanti river. Large herds of elephant can often be seen. During the afternoon we have time to explore the vicinity on foot.
Day 10: We drive through the Linyanti area to Katima Mulilo. Overnight at Zambezi Mubala Lodge on dinner, bed and breakfast basis.
Day 11: After breakfast we’ll enjoy a boat cruise on the Zambezi River. Fish species like tiger fish and bream are abundant in the river. Afternoon birding on the premises. Great flocks of carmine bee-eaters frequent the area during September and October.
Day 12: We bring you to the meeting point at Katima Mulilo. Your safari ends here.
